Willow bark has long been used for pain, fevers and inflammation. Its active compound, salicin, is the original source of the synthetic derivative aspirin. The action of white willow is much slower than that of the synthetic drug, but is less likely to cause stomach problems. Willow takes 8 hours to kick in.
